Our Troupe
(a troupe is a traveling theater company)
“Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
- Margaret Mead

BOOM TROUPE was founded to provide high-quality educational assemblies to schools all over Chicago and the surrounding sub-burbs. Through original theater, as well as excellent teaching practices, these topics are brought to students in a way that is meaningful to each specific age level.
Each BOOM TROUPE presentation is performed by a team of four talented BIG KIDS! These are our fun and highly trained professional presenters who love performing and enjoy teaching kids the importance of an open mind. They just don't understand why everyone needs to get up so early.

Andrew J. Pond has worked for various children's theatre companies over the past 13 years, as performer, director, and playwright. Aside from his work for Boom Troupe, he has toured the entire state of Florida (where he used to live) and the Northeast. He has taught theatre to children in camps both in Chicago and Miami, and has portrayed all types of characters, from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to a singing octopus. Andrew has also been known to spontaneously juggle, perform magic tricks, impersonate Elvis and do standup comedy. He holds a degree in philosophy and has a deep abiding love for the Muppets. Although he has been known to perform for adults, his favorite audience has always been children, and working with Boom Troupe allows him to not only make kids laugh, but also to think, and hopefully, to learn how to make their lives better.
